A downloadable zine

This is Solder and Sawdust, an irregularly-posted game design zine by Ajey Pandey. This first issue—and potentially future issues—contains a small collection of prototyped game design ideas, written with just enough detail to be playable.

They’re a bit janky, and that’s honestly the point. I can’t solve all the details of gameplay for your table, and I don’t really expect you to use these ideas in play. The real hope is that these design prototypes inspire you to make your own prototypes, to mess with initiative systems, to experiment with general moves, to consider what it would look like to GM a murder mystery.

I guess you can call this a lyric game. To play, fire up a chop saw and soldering iron of your own.

Issue 1: Escalation includes:

1. An Alternate Initiative System for Fantasy AGE
2. Actually Kill an Enemy: A Basic Move for MASKS
3. DARK//FORT: A Sci-Fi Weapons List for Mörk Borg
4. Escalate the Situation: An Alternate General Move for PbtA Games
5. The CEO: A System-Agnostic Murder Mystery Scenario

In both a graphical PDF, and a plaintext PDF.
