A Tutorial for Tabletop RPGs

If you have played RPGs before, and you want to get friends or family into tabletop role-playing games, this little booklet is designed to be a tutorial on how to play RPGs for someone who doesn’t know what they are.

Don’t bring dice. Don’t mention Game Masters. Don’t be a Game Master. Just bring a couple of coins, and ask if people know a particular movie from 1977. They probably will. 

If you don’t know what an RPG is, this packet will show you how to play!

Think of it like playing pretend, with some extra structure. To start, you can take a movie, or TV show, or novel that’s really close to you. Then, imagine that you are one of the characters. What would you do in their shoes? How would the story go differently?

Let’s look at a quick example using the 1977 blockbuster, uh...Space Fights. It’s time to escape the “Breath Star.” Bring four people to this adventure.
